Workflow

Yamaha provides consistent support, from basic planning through design, construction and acoustic measurement and evaluation after completion. Here is a typical example of workflow of acoustic design.

1. Basic planning

After survey and pre-measurement at the site, as well as analyzing the basic plan and use of the facilities, we propose a basic acoustic concept for room acoustics, sound insulation performance, noise control, and electroacoustic systems that are needed.

2. Design

We review design drawings for architecture, equipment, and electroacoustic systems, examine room shape and interior specifications, analyze noise sources, design sound insulation structures, and examine electroacoustic systems. In the design development phase, we conduct detailed acoustic studies using simulation technology we have developed. In addition, we create acoustic particular specifications that summarize the items needed at the construction phase.

3. Construction

In accordance with the acoustic particular specifications, we check the working drawings for architecture, equipment, electroacoustic systems, stage machinery, and so forth. We conduct on-site acoustic inspection at each phase of construction to check on the construction status at the site. In addition, acoustics tests are performed on important materials such as hall seats to check acoustic performance.

4. Measurement and evaluation

In accordance with the acoustic particular specifications, we perform various acoustic measurements during and after completion of construction, and evaluate acoustic performance. Acoustic adjustments are made in some cases.

5. Renovation

We perform acoustic measurements prior to renovation, identify current acoustic problems, and carry out optimal acoustic design in accordance with the renovation method. After construction, we perform acoustic measurements again for an evaluation of the acoustic performance comparing before and after renovation.
