The manuals in this site are created along with the Yamaha text guidelines below.
| 0-1. | Create in Windows Text file format (extension: .txt). |
If the text file is created on a Macintosh computer, the screen reader software cannot read the break-code for Macintosh.
| 0-2. | Prepare two types of files: one, the text of the entire manual; the other, the text of every chapter. |
The separate files are provided for ease in searching for keywords and individual functions.
| 0-3. | Number the files for each chapter sequentially. |
Example:
| |
| 1-1. | Confirm that the order of the text is the same as the printed literature. |
The order of text, extracted from PDF file or DTP data, may be incorrect. For example, the notation may be inserted into incorrect locations.
| 1-2. | Confirm that no spaces or breaks are contained within one word. |
Example. If a break exists in the word "different" (e.g., differ-ent), the screen reader software reads the words "differ" and "ent" separately.
| 1-3. | Replace important marks with text. |
Some screen reader software may skip certain marks.
| |
| 1-4. | Confirm that there are no invalid or 'garbage' characters. |
| If the text includes 2-byte characters or particular fonts, it may cause garbled text to appear. | |
| 2-1. | Insert Model Name and Manual Name at the top of each file. |
This will help users to know what the text file is.
| 2-2. | If the procedure is shown only in illustration, add the text to explain the steps. |
| |
| 2-3. | Insert "Table" into the beginning of the chart or table, and "Table End" into the end of the chart/table. |
When users know that a table is shown, they may better understand the contents.
| 2-4. | Insert "Figure" into where an important figure or illustration exists. |
When users know that an illustration is shown, they may better understand the contents.
| 2-5. | Insert "This is the end of the file" into the end of each file. |
| 3-1. | Precautions |
To have users to refer to the current (latest) precautions, delete the precautions from the text file. Instead, upload the latest precautions on the website.
| 3-2. | Index |
Since text files do not have any page indications, the index is unnecessary.
