David Friedman, internationally renowned vibraphonist, marimbist, composer and jazz educator, has his own musical message, born of fascinatingly diverse musical influences. Few jazz musicians can claim as broad a spectrum of performing and recording experience, with such varied musical personalities as Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter and Yoko Ono. His compositions are featured on Chet Baker’s award winning Enja release, Peace, with bassist Buster Williams and drummer Joe Chambers. Friedman is also the featured soloist on this recording.
As a leader in percussion and jazz education and a Yamaha artist, David Friedman is also professor of Jazz at the Jazz Institut Berlin, in Berlin Germany. He is also the author of several important books for vibraphone, such as a Vibraphone Technique, Dampening and Pedaling.

Franz Schindlbeck
Franz Schindlbeck, Principal Percussion of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, first percussion lessons at the age of twelve. 1983-1988 percusion studies with Hermann Gschwendtner at the Academy of Music Trossingen. Drummer in numerous bands, the Baden-Württemberg Youth Big Band, and 1988-1992 principal percussionist in the orchestra of the National Theatre Mannheim. Member of the Berlin Philharmonik and founding member of The Berlin Philharmonic Jazz Group. Since 1994 tutor in the Orchestral Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and since 2003 guest professor for Timpani/Percussion at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin.

Jean Geoffroy
He often plays solo-percussion at the most prestigious European festivals and has given recitals in all major European and international cities as a multi percussionist. Solo timpanist of the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris from 1985 to 2000. He taught at the Paris Conservatoire Natoinal Supérieur as a teaching assistant from 1993 to 1998. He is currently a professor at the Conversatoire national supérieur de musique in Lyon since 1999 and a teacher of didactic in the Conservatoire National Supérior of Music of Paris since 2005. He has been invited to teach master classes during seminars in France and abroad: Croatia, USA, and France.

Nebojsa Zivkovic
Hailed by the critics as one of the most unique and expressive artists in the field today, a composing virtuoso Zivkovic is recognised as one of the worlds top marimba and percussion soloists. He embodies a very rare tradition: the tradition the composer and virtuoso in one person, which was common in the 19th century among famous concert artists. In addition to his full time composing and concert activities, Nebojsa gives master classes and seminars in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the United States.

Ney Rosauro
Ney Rosauro is recognized as one of the most original and dynamic symphonic percussionists and composers today. In 2000 he began his current position as Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. As a composer he has published over 30 pieces for percussion as well as several method books. His compositions are very popular worldwide and have been recorded by internationally acclaimed artists such as Evelyn Glennie and the London Symphony Orchestra. Ney has also appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, in about 30 different countries, including the most prestigious International Percussion Festivals.

Jean=Yves Fourmeau
Born in France. Mr. Fourmeau graduated from the Paris Conservatoire with a premier prix in 1977. He was awarded second prize at the Gap International Saxophone Competition in France. He has been a professor at C.N.R. de Cergy-Pontoise and a juror at the Paris Conservatoire.

Frits Damrow
Frits Damrow has been principal trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam since 1991. With this orchestra he played under famous conductors as Georg Solti, Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Mariss Jansons and many others. With the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Frits Damrow made many CD recordings and concert tours all over the world. From 1982 until 1991 he served as principal trumpet in the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the Netherlands. As a soloist Frits Damrow appeared in many countries throughout the world, including Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, the United States, Japan and Mexico. His solo concerts vary from recitals with piano or organ to appearances with chamber or symphony orchestra. His solo performances can be heard on several CD's. Besides giving Masterclasses around the world, he is professor for trumpet at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

Otis Murphy
Born in 1972, Otis Murphy joined the faculty of the Indiana University School of Music in 2001 at the age of 28, becoming one of the youngest faculty members in the history of the IU School of Music. Murphy has won numerous awards and prizes that include 2nd Prize in the Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition (1998) in Belgium, 1st Prize in the Heida Hermanns Young Artist Competition. Otis Murphy is an active saxophone soloist and clinician and he has appeared at some of the most prestigious saxophone events in the world such as the Ravenna Music Festival in Italy, the 12th and 13th World Saxophone Congresses in Montreal, Quebec.

Peter Sullivan
Principal trombone Peter Sullivan came to the Pittsburgh Symphony during the 1999-2000 season. In 1985 he joined the Montreal Symphony and in 1990 was appointed to the position of Principal trombone by Maestro Charles Dutoit. Formerly he was a member of the Calgary Philharmonic and the tronto Symphony. Mr. Sullivan has an active schedule as soloist and chamber musician. He has given solo recitals throughout Canada, in Europe and in the United States. He also has been invited on two occasions to participate as a soloist at the annual conference of the International Trombone Association. Peter Sullivan is a native of Timmins, Ontario. He studied at Ottawa and McGill universities at wel as the Aspen School of Music. He was a finalist in the 1990 Munich International Competition. His former teachers include Theodora Griffith, Per Brevig and Christian Lindberg.
