Intro to The Trumpet

The origins of the trumpet date back to ancient Egypt, and the instrument has been around in one form or another for thousands of years. Instruments in this family include the cornet and flugelhorn, and learning how to play the trumpet opens up the possibility of mastering many other similar instruments, since the fingering is the same.

The trumpet has a long history in being used for military purposes, and trumpet players were often among the most heavily guarded members of a troop, since they were relied upon to relay instructions to other sections of the army. Now, the trumpet is can be found in nearly all forms of music, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, Latin, pop, funk and ska.
