Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!
The RX-V2500 has an improved system that is faster (less than three minutes), also adjusts frequency response, and provides three programed EQ patterns, plus the ability to manually adjust parametric EQ settings. Six YPAO settings can be held in memory and recalled via two system memory buttons on the remote control.
YPAO is available with the DSP-Z9, RX-V2500, RX-V1500, RX-V750, RX-V650 and DVX-S150. |
<STEP 01>
Speaker Connections
Checks for missing connections and subwoofer phase control (here the right surround speaker is not connected). |
<STEP 02>
Speaker Distance
Measures speaker distances from the listening point and corrects for differences down to 10cm. |
<STEP 03>
Speaker Size
Checks speaker sizes (large or small) and subwoofer crossover frequency. |
<STEP 04>
Speaker Frequency Response
Measures and optimizes each speakers frequency response using the 7-band parametric equalizer. |
<STEP 05>
Sound Pressure Level
Measures and aligns the sound pressure levels of all speakers. |

| Graphic equalizers adjust only the level, while parametric equalizers adjust gain, frequency and Q factor, thus providing more detailed and effective sound equalization. |

| The DSP-Z9, RX-V2500, RX-V1500, RV-V750 and RX-V650 provide an On-Screen Display with easy-to-understand menus for selecting and adjusting functions. The DSP-Z9 / RX-V2500 has a GUI (Graphic User Interface) for even greater convenience. Especially useful is a speaker display in the Speaker Test mode that makes it easy to balance the levels of all speakers. Up video conversion selection is also shown on the display. DSP programs can be selected with the remote control so their effects can be judged from the listening position. A rotary encoder Input Selector makes source selection quick and easy. |

| The RX-V2500, RX-V1500, RX-V750 and RX-V650 have an ergonomic design that ensures simple, convenient operation. Everything from the layout of the controls to the appearance and selection of the operating menus has been planned to make using it easy and enjoyable. |
| The remote control lets you access and adjust a wide range of menus on the on-screen display, for total operational control. You can use the Auto Setup menu to select which speaker parameters will be automatically adjusted, or you can adjust speaker and system parameters yourself via Manual Setup, which includes four menus. These are Basic for setting speaker and subwoofer parameters, Sound for adjusting Graphic EQ, Dynamic Range and eight other audio functions, Input for reassigning and renaming input / output, and Option for Memory Guard, Multi-Zone and other functions. |
| Digital input terminals are provided to handle any kind of digital input. Functions are programed to select priority in order of coaxial digital, optical digital and analog when different digital formats are input from the same source. The sound decoder is also automatically selected and processed according to the combination of the format of input signals and the selected sound field programs, while DSP sound field processing is optimized at the same time. |
