Q: I Already Have a Dolby Digital System. Can I Upgrade to DTS?
A: Yes! If you have a Dolby Digital ready receiver or amp with inputs for an outboard decoder, you could add a DTS decoder just as easily as you added a Dolby Digital decoder. You would have to disconnect one to play the other, however. If you have a receiver with a built-in DD decoding, you can still add a DTS decoder to your system. Yamaha has introduced a new component, the DSP-E492, that can make almost any system 5.1 channel ready. This new amp-processor adds to an existing stereo or home theater system and provides the six inputs you need for an external decoder. It also has three amplifiers built in so you can add it to a stereo system for Dolby Digital or DTS decoding.

Q: Why isn't DTS working?
A: To enjoy DTS sound, make sure of the following

DISCS: The discs you are playing must be encoded with DTS. The DTS logo will appear on the box.

DVD PLAYER: The DTS logo will appear on the front of the DVD player if it is capable of decoding DTS discs. The DVD player must also be connected to the receiver with a digital cable (coaxial or optical)

DVD PLAYER - DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT SETTING: The Digital Audio Output setting of the DVD player must be set to "DTS On/Yes".

RECEIVER - INPUT MODE: Set the Input Mode for AUTO.
