| Every year, as the Pops Concert draws near, the members of the Yamaha Symphonic Band feel the year is at last drawing to a close. In 2004, a competition held at the end of October meant that practice for the Pops Concert was concentrated into a shorter period than normal. |

| The Yamaha Motor Company Rugby Team played Toshiba Fuchu in the Top League final. The Yamaha Symphonic Band played on the second floor of the supporters' stadium for 40 minutes prior to kickoff. They played 5 songs including “Lupin the 3rd”, and “Yuzu no Pomp and Circumstance Marches”, to encourage the crowd. The first half was closely fought, finishing with Toshiba Fuchu leading. The band played a song during half time, and were looking forward to a comeback in the second half. Yamaha were not able to achieve a victory, but the nine thousand spectators enjoyed the performance. |
