Welding
In this step, a single brass plate is bent to form a pipe and welded along the edge, after which the welded seam is smoothed with a machine called a seam roller. |
|
Drawing
In this step, a steel core rod with precise dimensions is inserted into the tube. Next the tube is formed to a highly precise, micron-level tolerance conical shape from the exterior using a metal plate. |

Drawing toneholes
A die which is embedded in the core rod is spun and raised by a machine to create the toneholes (the rims around the holes where the pads touch). |

Buffing and lacquering
In these steps, the surface of the sax body is polished to a clean finish using a buffer cloth and a polishing agent. Next, an electrostatic lacquer finish is applied in a dust-free room. |
